What is embroidery?

Embroidery is a method where a design is sewn on to a finished garment using one or more colors of heavy-weight thread.

Here’s how it works:

  1. The image is processed using software that calculates the number of threads and their placement based on the overall size and complexity of the design. This process is called “digitizing.”
  2. The digital file is then processed by a computer-controlled sewing machine that is capable of manipulating several spools of thread at once.
  3. An electronic proof is presented to the customer for approval.
  4. The garments are fitted with a tension hoop to isolate the embroidered area and the image is stitched into the fabric. A reinforcement backing is stitched in to provide stability to the fabric.
  5. The reinforcement backing for the embroidery is trimmed away and the loose threads are removed.
